Boxed In and Loving It

A few years ago I took a Lisa Kaus class at Art And Soul called Gridlock. Recently, I decided to work in that same geometric format in my art journal.

Working in small areas is kind of liberating.

Below is the piece I made a few years back during Lisa's class.

I'm pretty sure I'll be doing this again sometime soon.  Have a great Memorial Day!

If Only...

This one is dedicated to all of my sea sisters - actually, any military family member. We all know how hard the waiting can be.

Outside of My Body

Mother's Day weekend is here and, as all parents know, children have a special place in our heart.    When my children claim I don't love them enough I chuckle and think "you'll understand when you have children".   When they frustrate me  I jokingly say "It's a good thing I love you so much."  What they don't realize is that a mother's love is fierce and not optional.

I've tried to explain to my children that from the moment they came into our lives my heart started living outside of my body.

This is also something they are not likely to understand until they have children of their own. (And, in my case, may that be many years from now!)

Hug your children and your spouse (partner, etc.) and have a great Mother's Day!

May Calendar Journal Page

Another month and here is my calendar journal page for May.   You can read more about the inspiration here.  I was feeling kind of fiesty with this color palette.

Below is my completed April page; you can see the before photo of it here.

 Thanks for stopping by!

Drive-by Blogging- Garden Artist

Life has been keeping me very busy of late. However, I squeezed in some time practicing my pen work.

A pen drawing inspired  by tutorials in the book  Zensprirations by Joanne Fink.
